FORMS AND VARIATIONS
New work from Cody Bustamante and Minoru Ohira
February 15 - April 04, 2011
Location:   Gallery Space 1
In nature, forms begin as simple structures and evolve into complex organisms. Two minimalist artists, Cody Bustamante of Ashland and Los Angeles artist Minoru Ohira start with simple organic shapes and explore this evolutionary mystery through materials and processes.

Cody Bustamante was born in 1955 in Los Angeles, California. He is currently Professor of Art at Southern Oregon University.
Bustamante's highly personal visual vocabulary yields images that are both dramatic and enigmatic. Opulently ornate forms float in dark atmospheres, their likeness vaguely related to underwater flora and fauna. Extravagantly ornamented tentacles invade the surrounding silent fields of color. Obsessively incised skins evoke the surfaces of Ancient Chinese bronzes, even as they emanate an aproaching aura of palpable danger.

I hope you will have a chance to enjoy this work.
Cody

Enjoyed the show very much. I'm getting an ear full from my girlfriend about purchasing, which I'm not in a position to do right now. Do you ever run prints? In any event, very impressed.
